With more than 30 years of experience, the Brazilian Association of Franchising (ABF) is a non-profit entity created with the mission of promoting, defending and promoting the technical and institutional development of the business model baptized as franchising. The entity, which currently has more than 1.300 members, brings together all parties involved in the franchise system: franchisors, franchisees, consultants and service providers that guarantee and disseminate the practice of good franchising in Brazil.
ABF also works closely with the Brazilian Government to strengthen and conduct a national policy for the sector – a major generator of jobs, income distribution and foreign exchange to the country.
Brazil is one of the few countries with a specific franchising law, which for more than 17 years governs the relationship between franchisees and franchisors, bringing transparency rules to the business offering.
Currently ABF is part of the World Franchise Council – WFC and the Ibero-American Federation of Franchises – FIAF and is also a member of the IFA – International Franchising Association and FIRAE.
Brazilian Franchising has grown today. In 2018 there was an improvement in confidence levels, a resumption of expansion, a 7% increase in sales, a 5% increase in units and an increase of 8% in job creation in the franchising sector. Projections for 2019 are even better and growth in the number of units, billing and generation of work is expected. In terms of internationalization, the presence of Brazilian brands abroad only tends to grow. (ABF)
